Assignment

Title:  Shooting Beauty - GLEAM (Portfolio shoot for Digital Image Production 2)

Location

Photography Studio: JM Level 0, Southampton Solent University

Concept

Using the skills and tasks developed within your photography and post-production workshops you are required to research images based on an inspirational word.  You must show the creative thinking behind your consideration of the images through image and text analysis, and evaluation.

Technical Requirements

You will then be required to design and photograph a studio-based image for your word. You must research and evaluate the images for the word you have chosen.  

Equipment

• Nikon D5100 camera;
• 18-55 mm lens;
• hot shoe adapter;
• sync lead;
• big softbox;
• big honeycomb;
• beautydish;
• two stands;
• two light heads;
• two cables;
• two black polyboards;
• black background.

Timeline

10:30: model and team meet;

10:30 - 12:30: make-up and hair in the make-up studio from the photography studio;

12:30 - 12:45: cleaning the make-up station, packing the make-up;

12:45 - 13:00: break;

13:00 - 14:00: setting up the studio on set, discussing the photoshooting brief;

14:00 - 14:15: retouching of make-up and hair;

14:15 - 15:30: photoshooting time;

15:30 - 16:00: break down set, remove model's make-up, clean up.

Title:  Shooting Beauty - YSL (Portfolio shoot for Digital Image Production 2)

Location

Photography Studio: JM Level 0, Southampton Solent University

Concept

You will be required to design and photograph a studio-based image for a key make-up brand (you will be presented with a list of brands to choose from).  You must research and evaluate the images for the brand you have chosen. 

Technical Requirements

During the second part of this unit, the emphasis will be on post-production and you will be required to use a template of a campaign image (provided by Chris Overend) to drop your image onto, with amendments to text, colour and layout. The amendments made to the template must be consistent with the brand image and ethos.
